Writer. Counselor. Teacher. Creator.

Having received a B.A. in Rhetoric and Global Culture, from Binghamton University, and an M.S. Ed. in counseling, school counseling (Chi Sigma Iota Honor Society) from New York Institute of Technology, Dr. Laura’s journey of helping others see themselves wholly beyond their troubles, began in Student Affairs. With more than a combined seven years of experience in the Student Affairs division of Higher Education, she has served on all levels- from Resident Assistant to Judicial Affairs Graduate Assistant to Resident Director. In her roles, she has worked with students on issues as fine as roommate dispute mediation to as life-changing as sexual assault and drug/alcohol misconduct.

Continuing her journey on the helping profession path, she would support students and their families via advocacy, workshop facilitation, letter-writing, and 1:1 essay editing. In the role of school counselor for a private high school, she would use needs-assessment, and counseling techniques like Brief-Solutions Focused and Motivational Interviewing to help prepare her graduating seniors and lead them to receive over 11 million dollars in scholarships for college placement.

Her professional journey would take a sharp pause in the wake of a near-death, preventable C-section, with the birth of her second child in the winter of 2016. Reflecting on her journey into motherhood and healing from the trauma of the C-section, she created a podcast, aptly entitled, #thebeautifulstruggle . For three seasons, dubbing herself Mrs. Zamor from her school counselor days, Laura used this medium as a space for healing through dialogue; bringing awareness to topics like gestational illness, birth trauma, post partum wellness support including the role of a Doula, and mothering from the lens of a Millennial.

In 2018, she would add published author to her resume. Her debut memoir, The Audacity to Finish, garnered presentation time on the Ingram Publisher’s stage at Book Expo America 2018 in NYC, and would take her from Lagos, Nigeria to Miami, Florida on a self-produced, indie book tour.

After a five-year restorative time away, Laura returns full circle to the helping profession as a Board Certified Doctor of Naturopathy via the American Natural Wellness Practitioner’s Board, Certified Natural Health Professional (CNHP), and Certified Holistic Health Practitioner (CHHP), having graduated from the Trinity School of Natural Health. Using a combination of education with experiential wisdom of proud Haitian heritage, Laura supports women and their families, from early post partum and beyond, focusing specifically, on whole person wellness of the Mother. Specialty focus includes Iridology, Herbalism, and TCM Physical Observations. Her apothecary, Kay Grann Apothecary® is an ode to the intimate, herbal based care of her matrilineal heritage. Her latest work, featuring an original framework for healing (aptly entitled REST, REPLENISH, REEVALUATE), The Whole Mother Method™, is now available for purchase via your favorite online retailer.
