Pray with ME
"Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective." James 5:16 NIV
"Keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking deceit.Depart from evil and do good; seek, inquire for, and crave peace and pursue (go after) it!The eyes of the Lord are toward the [uncompromisingly] righteous and His ears are open to their cry.The face of the Lord is against those who do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth. When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears, and delivers them out of all their distress and troubles. The Lord is close to those who are of a broken heart and saves such as are crushed with sorrow for sin and are humbly and thoroughly penitent." Psalm 34: 13-18 AMP
There are injustices occurring around us everyday. Sometimes we think if it is not happening to people of our similar culture, religious group or even race, it is above us. Unfortunately, divided by cultural barriers, we can even be taught not to care about those who are being afflicted. But the Psalmist is challenging us to confess those sins of ignorance, hate and inhumanity. He is challenging us to remember the one thing that unites us all and keeps us the same, is our ability to pray; that we all have the same breath. As you hear about the pains and sufferings of others, take a moment to use your common breath and utter a word of prayer.
Prayer for Today: Dear Lord, my heart is breaking for your people. I am filled with distress, my mind racing with rage. Please fill me with Your Holy Spirit. Let me overflow with the warmth that comes with knowing You are the God who forms nations and keep them firmly planted. Please remind me, when my faith is low and my anger high, that only when I turn to you in earnest prayer can I expect a healing touch. Bless and comfort those who are innocent yet suffering. In Jesus' name. Amen.
